Received the first pump. Set it up per instructions in full sunlight and it worked perfectly for 5 minutes. Contacted the seller/company and received a full replacement pump and solar panel in a few days. Prompt, courteous customer service! Apparently, the solar panel was defective on the first shipment.
The pump and solar panel are working great for weeks now. I recommend the solar pump and seller/company to all. Am sitting in my patio now, enjoying the flowing fountain powered by solar energy.

The solar pump was exactly what I was looking for! It is very tiny, so it doesn't take a lot of room in the birdbath and it works just fine. You just have to make sure that there is always enough water in the birdbath or fountain to keep the pump working. Keep in midn that some water will splatter and some will evaporate, so check the water level often. If you don't have the time or are going away for a few days, all you need to do is unplug it from the solar panel.
I like it very much!

I have owned a SunJet solar fountain pump for 3 years. It is a great product and remarkably easy to use and maintain. I did have the filter wear out on me. I made a replacement from a green scrubby used for washing pots and pans. I love my fountain and enjoy the ability to create it however I choose. I bought one for my parents and they enjoy it on their patio surrounded by plants.

If your not expecting too much, then this product is perfect. We bought this fountain to fit into a small planter in our garden. The fountain works great when the sun comes out, and it is incredible easy to set-up. But do not expect a huge fountain and as advertised, the fountain stops working when the solar panel is only partially blocked.
My only disappointment is the lack of a back-up battery. I knew what I was getting, so it's not that big of a problem. But we own solar cristmas lights that come with a battery back-up so I don't understand how hard it could be to make one for this. All in all I would recommend this product.
7.) worked for about three months

This little pump died inexplicably after about three months. I replaced it with an electrically powered model that is more powerful at about 1/2 the price. It's a shame, but I don't think these things are ready for prime time and are very expensive to boot.
I'd drop the rating to 1 star if I could edit the star panel!

I was surprised at the apparent low quality, given the cost. The solar panel has a battery housing attached, and nothing else. There is no provision for mounting or attaching or staking this panel in any way. The battery cannot be replaced. Definitely would NOT recommend.

I had high hopes for this pump. I guess you get what you pay for! This pump works okay, but only in very direct sunlight. It does not store energy, so if a cloud (or a child) blocks the light from the solar panel, the flow of water stops. The pump housing is small and fragile. My husband, with his big man hands, broke open the housing almost immediately. Luckily I was able to piece it back together and get it working again. This pump is suitable for very small fountains. My in ground disappearing fountain is probably a bit ambitious for it!
10.) The slightest cloud will be a turn off

It's a great little (stress: little!) fountain but only in full sunlight.
My solution was to cut the feed from the panel to the fountain and provide an alternative source of power - I used 4xAA batteries. A better alternative might be a 5 or 6 volt DC adaptor, but we didn't want the hassle of running cables - which is why we opted for solar in the first place!!
Anyway, using a double-pole switch we can choose between solar, battery or off. Now We can have the fountain at full power in the evening if there are guests in the garden!
Again, nice little fountain and it DOES work in full sunlight, but it really struggles to do anything if there is the slightest cloud cover.

I ordered this pump thinking it was the panel/pump with a stake attachment (as described here) that you can stake into the ground. I've owned that model before and I've owned this smaller/no stake model before as well and it is far inferior to the staked model. In fairness, the seller quickly agreed to issue a credit to me. The description here should be corrected as it cannot be staked as advertised.
13.) Poor instructions, pump dead after 3 days

I bought one of these a year ago and hooked it up inside a new birdbath just last week. It was cloudy all weekend and the fountain ran on and off. I noticed it was overshooting water outside of the birdbath and adjusted it as best I could. But, Monday, when I got home after a super sunny day, the bath was bone dry and the pump destroyed--it had shot all the water out of the bath.
The instructions are poor and said nothing about which fountain head did what or how to restrict the flow. I did find one site that said your bowl should be 12 or more inches across--mine is.
I'm disappointed. The picture makes it look like a nice contained spray, but it's not.
Unless you've got a big bowl, steer clear.

We purchased this pump and on the advice of the Smart Solar company returned the first one because it would not do any more than sputter. The second one was the same. Then Smart Solar sent us another pump, claiming it Amazon had a bad batch. We tried it and it was no better. Do not waste your time on this item. I cannot belive anyone else got it to work unless they live in desert with 100% direct sun all day long.
